Thought for today

By Rodney Sheffer

No field of intellectual endeavor is as riddled with as much egregious error as theology. Produced and promulgated in the complete absence of any science or objectivity of any kind, theology has been, and still is, a kind of intellectual masturbation that has infected and retarded the growth and development of Western Civilization for over 3000 years.

    Rodney

I am hoping to find a email address where I can discuss this subject with you.

I find from reading some of your articles you to be a person with an intense desire for understanding and knowledge and yet you seem to be devoid of such understanding in terms of the God issue.

God represents the objective Absolute Truth that we as humans, limited in our knowledge of by the box we define as reality that we are trapped within cannot really know.

Thus we are limited to the subjective perception of truth.

God deals with the Absolute truth of creation and the Absolute truth of morality.

Just because we do not know the absolute truth and are limited to our subjective perception of it, does not mean this absolute truth does not exist.

Substitute the word God and you get, Just because we do not know who or what God is does not mean God does not exist. To me God = Absolute Truth.

Just as the blind men each have their own perception of the elephant and are absolutely correct in describing it from their POV, They are also absolutely incorrect in their description of the elephant in terms of its entirety.

In closing God does exist and the more open we are to listening to and understanding the POV of all the other blind men the closer we will come to knowing and understanding God.

PS. Even within the political obfuscations of religion if you sincerely seek the need and understanding behind it you will see truths of Gods righteousness and reality. But you must remove the blinders of self interest to see others perception of God.

James, you are the one claiming there is a god. We cannot discuss this unless you tell us what this god consists of and where it exists and how we know. The definition of existence, after all, is to consist of something and to be somewhere.

If you can figure that out, you then have to tell us why you think this god has whatever attributes you think it has and how you know.

We simply can’t discuss something without knowing what it is we are discussing.

I prefer to substitute Unicorns for Absolute Truth, so you have to prove to me that they don’t exist.
